Manage your payment methods
View, add, set a default, and remove the cards and bank accounts you use to pay your school.
The Payment methods screen holds the cards and bank accounts you use to pay your school. Add a new one, pick which one autopay charges, or remove anything you no longer use.
What you'll see
Open Payment methods and every card and bank account on file is listed. Each row shows a short label, like a card brand and its last four digits, or your bank name and the last four. Two tags help you tell them apart:
- Default is the one autopay charges.
- FSA/HSA marks a flexible-spending or health-savings card.
Nothing on file yet? You'll see a short empty state with a button to add your first one.
Add a card or bank account
You can save credit and debit cards, bank accounts over ACH, and Dependent Care FSA debit cards if your plan issues one.
- In the app, tap + Add payment method. On the web, click Add method.
- Stripe takes over from here. In the app, the payment sheet slides up; on the web, a Stripe form opens in a dialog. Enter your card or bank details.
- Confirm. In the app, finish in the sheet; on the web, click Save method.
A new method can take a few seconds to show up, because your bank confirms it on Stripe's side first. If it isn't there right away, pull down to refresh.
Choose which one autopay uses
Find the method you want and tap Make default. The Default tag moves to it. That's the card or account autopay will charge from then on. For the full picture, see Set up autopay.
Remove a method
Tap Remove on any method and confirm. It's gone, but you can add it again any time.
Your card numbers never touch us
Clear Day doesn't store your full card or bank numbers. Your details go straight to Stripe, our payment processor, and stay on their systems.
If autopay keeps failing
When a charge fails after several tries, you'll see a notice that autopay couldn't go through. Update or change your payment method here, then open the invoice to pay it by hand. Why did my payment fail? walks through the common causes.
