Family spotlights: when your family is celebrated

Every so often, your school wants to say thank you. A family spotlight is a short, warm note that celebrates your family for the week. When one is waiting, it sits at the very top of your home screen.

What a spotlight is

A spotlight is a brief message of appreciation written by your school. It isn't a report, a to-do, or anything you need to act on.

When your family is celebrated, you'll see a card titled Your family is celebrated this week, followed by the reason your school picked you. It signs off from your school team, so you know it came from the people who care for your child.

You don't need to reply. It's a note to read, nothing more.

Where it shows up

The spotlight appears at the top of your home, just above your weekly digest.

It only shows during the week your family is being celebrated. When there's no spotlight, the card just doesn't appear. It isn't your turn this week, that's all: spotlights are occasional by design.

Why your family might be picked

Schools spotlight families for all kinds of reasons, big and small: steady attendance, a kind gesture, a milestone, or just being a good part of the community. Whatever the reason, your school writes it right into the card.

Who writes it

Your director chooses your family and writes the note. The spotlight reaches your home screen one of two ways: your director can publish it right away, or, if it's still waiting, it publishes on its own at the start of the week it celebrates.

Coming back to it later

The spotlight stays put all week, so you can read it again whenever you like. In the app, pull down on your home screen to refresh, and the spotlight refreshes alongside your weekly digest. When a new week starts, last week's spotlight makes way for the next one.
