Sunny & the tray

Sunny's tray: where the work waits

Sunny opens on a tray of work, drafts waiting for you, jobs running, a few suggestions, and what you can ask for.

Sunny is the AI built into Clear Day. Open it and you land on a tray: the work waiting on you, the work it's doing right now, and a short list of what you can ask for. Not a blank chat box.

You hand Sunny a job, put the phone down, and pick it back up later. Nothing it prepares goes anywhere until a person approves it.

What's on the tray

Ready for you. Drafts waiting on your decision, most consequential first. Each row is dashed and wears a DRAFTED pill. Dashed means it hasn't happened yet. This is the one queue; count badges anywhere else in Clear Day point here.

Working. One card per job Sunny is running, with the step it's on. A job runs on the server, so it keeps going if you close the app. Stop cancels one; it asks a second time first.

Suggestions. At most three chips, picked by the time of day and the day of the week: who's out during drop-off, the pickup list mid-afternoon, the newsletter on a Friday. Tapping one runs the ask straight away.

What you can ask. A small grid of capability cards, each with a real example. Tapping a card sends its example ask for real. Not every example is a read ("Mark Liam checked in at 8:15" and "Draft an incident report for a scraped knee at recess" are both on there), but the ones that would touch the world stop and hand you a draft instead of doing it, so a curious tap can never act on its own. All skills opens the full directory. See what Sunny can do.

Directors and admins also see the morning brief at the top of the tray on the mornings it's been composed. See how the morning brief works.

The status line

Under the name is one line that says what is actually true right now. You'll see one of:

  • 2 drafts ready · 1 job running
  • working — you can leave
  • drafting…
  • listening…
  • offline · 2 queued
  • restored · synced 8:02

It never says "Ready when you are." If it says a job is running, a job is running.

Where to open it

  • The sun button in the header on every staff screen.
  • On the web, /assist.
  • In the app, the Sunny tile on a director's home screen, which shows live status like "2 drafts ready."
  • In context, from the record you're looking at: Generate with Sunny on a lesson plan, Draft from notes on an incident report. Both open the tray with that record already attached, and neither drafts or sends anything by itself.

In the app there's also Scan a paper form: see scan a paper form.

One conversation, everywhere

The session lives on the server, keyed to you and your school. The same thread is there on your phone, your tablet and the web app. Close the app, switch devices, reinstall, let your login refresh overnight: you come back to the same place.

Anything that arrived while you were gone lands below a while you were away line, and you open at that line rather than at the bottom of everything.

New chat starts a fresh session. It archives the old one to your receipts rather than deleting it: nothing Sunny has done is ever thrown away. See work receipts.

Asking

The composer sits at the bottom. Type, or tap the mic and talk: cancel and stop stay visible the whole time you're recording, and if the app gets backgrounded mid-sentence what you've said so far is kept as a queued ask rather than dropped.

You can attach a photo to an ask. If you're somewhere without signal, the ask queues instead of failing: see work offline and pick it back up.
