How the morning brief works

Each weekday morning, Sunny reads through your school and pulls together one short page, Today's brief. It answers the question you would otherwise piece together on the drive in: what does today need, and who needs me? It is for directors and admins.

On Run, you get the short version as a card at the top of Sunny's tray. On Grow, you also get the full page.

The card on the tray

The card is three to five lines, most urgent first, and each line opens the record behind it:

• Urgent messages that waited overnight.
• Rooms projected over ratio today.
• Incidents from the last couple of days that you still owe a family a conversation about.
• Enrollment cooling: an offer about to expire, a tour gone quiet, a family slipping past due.
• Milestones this week, today's tours and today's new starts.

The card is solid, not dashed, because the brief proposes nothing. If a line leads to an action, such as "a reply is already drafted", that action is a separate dashed draft. See drafts wait for your team.

The brief leads with what is ahead, not who has checked in. Before opening, that number is close to zero.

The full brief (Grow)

Open Today's brief from your home screen. The app names the sections Today, This week, Needs attention, Watchlist, Ask about and Quick actions. The web uses slightly different names for some of them.

• On-site today: families with a child in the building, with a small gold chip on notable ones.
• Milestones this week: birthdays and anniversaries. Choose Done in the app, or Acknowledge on the web, so it stops coming back.
• Needs attention: in the app, a family with an urgent unread message. It only appears when there is one.
• Engagement watchlist: families marked Watch, At risk or Lapsing, most urgent first, each with a short reason. Filter chips carry counts.
• Ask about: a conversation starter for a family. Mark it asked when you have used it.
• Quick actions: a suggested next touch, with the reasoning. Create task turns it into a follow-up.

On Run, opening the full page shows a note about Grow instead. The Weekly digest button on the same page leads to your weekly digest.

When it arrives

The brief is composed in your school's local morning, not at one fixed hour for every time zone. If a morning is genuinely quiet, you get no brief rather than an empty one. Want a fresh read later in the day? Refresh composes it again. After a few quick refreshes it asks you to wait.

The brief can also arrive as a push notification. It respects your quiet hours. There is no separate switch for it. See recurring work and notifications.

Everything in the brief comes from your own school's records. Sunny composes it and suggests the touches, and never sends or files anything. If a line looks off, the record behind it has usually fallen behind. Fix the record, and tomorrow's brief catches up.
