How the morning brief works

Each weekday morning, Sunny reads through your school and pulls together one short page. It's called Today's brief, and it answers the question you'd otherwise piece together on the drive in: what does today need, and who needs me.

It's for directors and admins.

The card on the tray

The top of Sunny's tray carries the brief as a solid card (three to five lines, most urgent first, each one tapping through to the record behind it):

• Urgent messages that waited overnight
• Rooms projected over ratio today
• Incidents from the last couple of days you still owe a family a conversation about
• Enrollment cooling: an offer about to expire, a tour gone quiet, a family slipping past due
• Milestones this week, today's tours, today's new starts

Under it, chips naming what it drew on.

The card is solid, not dashed, on purpose: the brief proposes nothing, so nothing on it is waiting for your approval. The moment a line leads to an action ("a reply is already drafted"), that action is a separate dashed draft you approve. See drafts wait for your team.

The brief deliberately leads with what's ahead rather than who's already checked in. Before open, "who's on site" is close to zero, and it isn't what you plan a day around.

The card comes with any paid plan, Run or Grow.

The full brief

Open Today's brief from your home screen for the whole page. Same sections every day, each with a count.

The full page (everything below, plus Refresh) is part of Grow. On Run, that home-screen tile takes you to the brief card in Sunny's tray instead: the same brief, in short form, with no dead end. The card itself never opens the full page on any plan: its rows tap through to the family or room behind them. See what's in each plan.

• On-site today (the app: Today). Families with a child in the building, so a name is ready before you greet them. Notable families carry a small gold chip.
• Milestones this week (the app: This week). Birthdays, anniversaries, dates coming up. Tap Done in the app, or Acknowledge on the web, once you've noted one so it stops resurfacing.
• Engagement watchlist (the app: Watchlist). Families flagged as Watch, At risk, or Lapsing, most urgent first, each with a short reason. Filter chips across the top (All, Watch, At risk, Lapsing) each carry a count.
• Ask about: a conversation starter for a family, the kind of thing a great director remembers to ask. Mark it asked once you've used it.
• Quick actions: a suggested next touch for a family, with the reasoning behind it. Create task turns it into a follow-up you can track.

In the app, a Needs attention section joins them when a family has an urgent unread message waiting. It only appears when there's something there.

When it lands

The brief composes on weekday mornings, in your school's local morning, not at some fixed hour that's mid-morning in one time zone and the middle of the night in another. The header shows when it was generated.

If a morning is genuinely quiet, you get no brief rather than a brief that says nothing. That's deliberate: an empty card every day teaches you to stop reading it.

Want a fresh read partway through the day? Refresh re-composes it. After a few quick refreshes in a row it asks you to wait a moment. Before the brief has run you'll see "No brief yet" with a prompt to generate one now.

The push

The brief can arrive as a notification. It's on by default, it respects quiet hours, and tapping it opens the brief. See recurring work and notifications.

What it draws from

Everything in the brief comes from your own school's records. It reads overnight messages to work out which thread is urgent, and carries a short excerpt of that message into the brief so you know what you're walking into. For the full picture, read what the AI can and cannot see.

Sunny composes the brief and suggests the touches. It never sends or files anything on its own. Acknowledging a milestone, marking a prompt asked, and creating a task are all yours to do.

If a line looks off, it's usually a record that's fallen behind. Fix the record and tomorrow's brief picks it up.
