Teacher briefs: onboarding a new student

Review and send the AI-drafted brief that introduces a newly enrolled student to their classroom teacher.

When a family enrolls a new student, Clear Day writes a short brief for the teacher whose classroom that student is joining: the things worth knowing on day one, pulled from the family's records. You read it, make sure it lands right, and send it on. Nothing reaches the teacher until you approve it.

Think of it as the warm handoff a great director gives in person, written down so it doesn't get lost.

Teacher briefs are part of the Grow plan, and reviewing them is a director or admin job. They have their own queue rather than sitting in Sunny's tray: the tray holds Sunny's action slips, and a teacher brief is its own thing with its own screen.

Where to find your queue

Open Teacher briefs. It's your review queue (Drafts waiting for your review), every pending brief in one place. Each row shows the student's name, their classroom, and the first couple of lines of the draft.

A draft is created automatically as soon as a student is enrolled, and it waits here. The teacher can't see it yet. It stays a pending draft until you send it.

When the queue is empty you'll see No briefs waiting: every enrolled student's brief has gone out. Hit Refresh to reload the list, or pull to refresh on iOS.

Review and send

  1. Tap the student whose brief you want to read. The review screen opens under a DRAFT FOR the classroom name.
  2. Read the draft. Check the tone, and check the facts. A line below the body tells you which records Clear Day used: Sources: in the app, Drew on: on the web.
  3. If something's off, tap Regenerate. Clear Day writes a fresh version and shows that one instead. Regenerate as many times as you need.
  4. When it reads well, tap Send to teacher.
  5. You'll get a quick confirmation that the teacher can now see the brief, and you're back at the queue.

Regenerating doesn't offer you the previous wording back, so reach for it when you want a fresh take, not a small tweak. This is different from a Sunny action slip, which keeps DRAFT 1 readable after a redraft: see drafts wait for your team.

What the teacher sees

Once you send it, the brief shows up in the teacher's app as part of their onboarding for the new student. Before that, they see nothing. The draft lives in your queue and nowhere else.

Web and iOS work the same way. On iOS the review screen is titled Review Brief; on the web a Teacher briefs link at the top takes you back to the queue. The Regenerate and Send to teacher buttons, and the way they behave, are identical.
