Photograph a permission slip, an allergy form or a handwritten note. Sunny reads it, shows you the fields it's unsure about, and files it once you approve.

Paper still comes into a preschool by the handful. Sunny reads it.

This is a Grow plan feature, and it lives in the Clear Day app, because that's where the camera is.

Take the picture

Open Sunny and tap Scan a paper form: "Read it, check the fields, then file it." Teachers also have a Form reader card on the tray.

Point at the paper and snap it. Both sides, several pages, a stapled packet: keep snapping and the pages collate into one document. A scan sweep runs over the image while it reads, and the steps tick in on an ordinary receipt: the child matched to your roster, the fields read, whether a signature is present.

Two kinds of paper

Forms (permission slips, allergy and medical forms, enrollment paperwork, sign-in sheets) come back as typed fields: trip name, destination, date, child, who signed, signature date, the checkboxes. A layout it doesn't recognise falls back to plain field-and-value pairs plus a transcription.

Notes (an observation jotted at the sand table, a whiteboard, a sticky note) come back as a verbatim transcription, kept exactly as written alongside the photo. A word it couldn't read renders as [unclear], tappable to see that patch of the image. It never quietly guesses a word.

Check the fields

Tap Check the fields and the document opens with two tabs:

Image: the original photo, pinch to zoom. The original is always kept.
Data: the fields as a clean list.

Tap a field and its patch of the image lights up. Tap a patch and you get the field.

A field Sunny isn't confident about wears a needs your eye badge. You have two ways to clear it: Looks right, which confirms the value as it stands, or type the correction yourself.

A field with that badge blocks filing. Not as a warning you can click through: the document will not file until every flagged field has been confirmed or corrected, and that's enforced on our side, not just in the app.

Your correction sits beside the machine value, never over it. What the reader thought it said stays visible, with your fix and your name next to it. That's what makes the record honest a year later, and it's how we learn which forms Sunny reads badly.

Filing is a draft you approve

Filing arrives as a normal dashed draft, naming every consequence: attach the image, store the fields, link it to the record. Nothing is written to a child's record before you approve. See drafts wait for your team.

What you can do with a filed form

Filed fields answer ordinary questions: "Who hasn't returned the Riverside Farm slip?" The answer cites the documents, and the chips open the scan.

You can export one form type at a time as a spreadsheet (the fields, with the corrections), which is the shape an inspector wants.

The honest limit

Sunny links a document to records that already exist. It attaches the image, stores the fields, and points them at a child, a family, an incident or an event.

It does not create records from a form. Scanning a completed enrollment packet does not enrol a child, and scanning an allergy form does not change the allergy field on that child's profile: you still do that, and the scan is now sitting there to do it from. If a form arrives for a child who isn't on your roster yet, add the child first.
