Photograph a permission slip, an allergy form or a handwritten note. Sunny reads it, flags the fields it is unsure about, and files it once you approve.
Paper still comes into a preschool by the handful. Sunny reads it. Scanning is in the app, because that is where the camera is.
Snap, check, approve
- Snap. Open Sunny and choose Scan a paper form. Point at the paper and take the picture. For two sides or several pages, keep snapping and the pages join into one document. Teachers also have a Form reader card on the tray. The steps tick in on a receipt: the child matched to your roster, the fields read, whether a signature is present.
- Check the fields. Choose Check the fields. The Image tab is the original photo, and the Data tab lists the fields. Tap a field and its patch of the image lights up. A field Sunny is unsure about has a needs your eye badge. Choose Looks right, or type the correction.
- Approve. Filing arrives as a normal dashed draft that names every consequence: attach the image, store the fields and link it to the record. Nothing is written to a child's record until you approve. See drafts wait for your team.
What comes back
Forms, such as permission slips, allergy and medical forms, enrollment paperwork and sign-in sheets, come back as fields: trip name, child, who signed, signature date and checkboxes. Notes, such as an observation jotted at the sand table, come back as a word-for-word transcription. A word Sunny could not read shows as [unclear], and you can tap it to see that patch of the image. Sunny does not guess.
Flagged fields block filing
A document will not file until every flagged field has been confirmed or corrected. That is enforced on our side, not only in the app.
Your correction sits beside the machine value and never replaces it, with your name next to it. The original photo is always kept.
Ask about filed forms
Filed fields answer everyday questions: "Who hasn't returned the Riverside Farm slip?" The answer cites the documents, and each chip opens the scan.
What it does not do
Sunny links a document to records that already exist. It does not create them. Scanning a finished enrollment packet does not enroll a child, and scanning an allergy form does not change the allergy on a child's profile. You still do that, with the scan in front of you. If the child is not on your roster yet, add them first.
