Clear Day help
Sunny & the tray

Recurring work and notifications

Set a job once ("every Friday at three, draft the newsletter") and control when Sunny is allowed to interrupt you.

Some work happens on the same day every week. You can say it once.

Setting a recurring job

Ask for it in plain words: "Every Friday at 3, draft the family newsletter." Sunny confirms it with a schedule row you can see: the job's name, its cadence, and when it next runs.

Schedules are daily or weekly, at a wall-clock time in your school's local time. "Fridays 3:00 pm" means three in the afternoon where your school is, not wherever a server happens to be.

Your schedules live on their own screen, each with a toggle and its next run. Turn one off and it stops; turn it back on and it resumes.

What a scheduled job does when it fires

It runs the same way an ask you typed runs: a job on the server, one receipt, named steps. Whatever it produces lands in your tray as a draft.

Scheduling never implies sending. A Friday newsletter schedule doesn't send a newsletter on Friday: it has one waiting for you on Friday. Every fire shows up in your receipts like any other job. See work receipts.

Handing off a long job

You can also hand off a one-off. Ask for the newsletter at nine at night and close the app; the job keeps running on the server, and the draft is waiting before drop-off. See work offline and pick it back up.

Notifications

Sunny is allowed to interrupt you, within limits it doesn't get to negotiate.

Quiet hours. By default Sunny goes quiet from 6pm to 7am, in your school's time zone. You can change the window in your notification preferences; if you've set quiet hours there, Sunny uses yours. During quiet hours the push is dropped, not queued up to arrive in a batch at 7am.

A daily cap on drafts you didn't ask for. When Sunny drafts something off its own bat (a suggested reply, a scheduled job's output), those pushes are capped at two a day per person. A draft from a job you explicitly handed off isn't capped; you're waiting on that one.

What never pushes. Job progress. A job ticking through its steps shows on the Working card and nowhere else. Your phone doesn't buzz because step 2 of 4 finished.

What always pushes (outside quiet hours): a draft ready from a job you handed off, and a job that failed. The failure push carries the reason rather than "something went wrong."

The morning brief pushes by default and respects quiet hours. It has no on/off switch of its own today: no brief-time picker, no separate toggle. The control that does exist is your quiet-hours window: Sunny reads the one already in your notification preferences, so widening that window is what changes whether the brief reaches you. The brief itself is still composed and still waiting at the top of the tray either way.

Tapping opens the thing itself. A draft-ready push opens that exact draft, scrolled to and focused. A failure push opens the receipt. Not "the app."

If you were offline and your queued asks sent when you got signal back, you only get told about it if the app was closed at the time. If it's open in your hand, the bubbles turn solid in front of you and a notification would just be noise.
