Work receipts: what Sunny did, and who approved it

Every job Sunny runs leaves one receipt, the steps it took, what it read, the outcome, and the name of the person who approved it.

Ask Sunny something and it shows its work on one receipt: a card with the job's name, the steps it took, and what each step found. Not a scatter of cryptic status pills: one card, one job.

When the job is done the receipt stays. That's the point of it.

Reading a receipt

The header names the job in plain language and shows how long it's been running. Under it, the steps tick in as they finish, each with a one-line result:

  • Read the fall roster: 37 children · 31 families
  • Checked signed forms in paperwork: 26 confirmed · 5 unopened
  • Cross-checked message threads

A step that fails turns red with a plain reason and a Try again. The rest of the receipt survives. A job that fails doesn't disappear into a toast you can't read twice.

The log

Open Receipts (on the web at /assist/receipts, in the app from the tray) for everything Sunny has ever done, newest first, grouped by day. Four filters across the top:

  • All
  • Drafts: what was sent, what's still waiting, what was rejected and why, and every version along the way
  • Jobs: what ran, what it did, what failed
  • Answers: the read-only questions, marked as answered with nothing sent

Every row reopens the full receipt: the named steps and each step's one-line result, the draft versions, and the outcome.

A receipt has no source list as such. The steps say what they read in their own words ("Read the fall roster"), and a draft says plainly what it was proposed from, but neither is a set of links you can tap. Tappable source chips belong to Sunny's answers, and only where the answer rests on a record we can open. See what the AI can see.

Who approved it

A draft's receipt records the decision: approved or rejected, by whom, when, and which draft version was the one that went. A rejection keeps its reason. This is the line that makes the log worth having at licensing time: not "the AI sent something," but "Hannah approved DRAFT 1 at 8:03 am, and here is exactly what it said."

Who can see which receipts

Directors and admins see the whole school's receipts, each row labelled with whose work it was. Teachers see their own. It's one rule, applied the same way everywhere the log appears.

Receipts stay

Nothing clears the log on a schedule. Starting a New chat archives the current conversation into Receipts rather than deleting it, and a draft that expires unapproved is archived as never sent rather than vanishing.

If you need the underlying documents out of Clear Day for an inspection, filed paper forms export as a spreadsheet per form type: see scan a paper form.
