Publish weekly family spotlights

A family spotlight is a short, kind highlight that greets one family on their parent home screen for the week. Staff nominate a family from that family's page. The nomination waits as Pending until someone on your team publishes it. Nothing reaches a parent until a person says go.

On the web, open Family spotlights from the School hub. In the app, it's Spotlights. Both show one Monday-to-Sunday week, grouped into Pending, Published and Dismissed, each with a count.

Move between weeks

Use the arrows at the top. On the web there's also a date picker and a This week button. In the app, tap the Week of … label to return to this week. If a nomination is still pending for the current week, a reminder shows.

Pending spotlights for the current week publish on their own early Monday. Publishing yourself sends it right away.

Publish

Each pending row shows the family and the reason. Read the reason, then select Publish. The spotlight appears in the family's parent app right away. A published spotlight is read-only and there's no undo.

In the app, Publish may be hidden. Rolling out: if you don't see it yet, it isn't on for your school yet. The web always has it.

Dismiss

To clear a nomination without publishing, select Dismiss in the app, or the X next to Publish on the web. The app asks you to confirm. The web's Dismiss this spotlight? dialog takes an optional internal reason.

Dismissed nominations are never shown to the parent. You can nominate the family again for another week from their page.
