Manage your skill catalog

The skill catalog is the list of developmental skills teachers tag on observations. Each skill sits in a domain and has an age band. Admins curate the catalog. Teachers can read it.

On the web, open Skill catalog from the School hub. In the app, it's a tile under Records on the School tab, and it has the same screens, including import.

Read the catalog

Skills are grouped into a panel per domain, listed alphabetically, each with a count. A row shows the skill's short label and description, an Archived tag if retired, a blue Standard tag if it came from imported standards, and the age band in months.

Add a skill

Select Add skill and fill in:

• Short label: what teachers see, like Counts to 10.
• Description: what it looks like in practice.
• Domain: an existing name adds to that panel. A new name makes a new panel.
• Age band min and age band max, in months. New skills start at 0 to 72.

Archive and restore

Skills are archived, not deleted, so past observations stay intact. Select Archive on a row to retire it. It stops appearing for new observations. Select Restore to bring it back.

Import from standards

Select Import from standards and give:

• Jurisdiction, like US-IL. A bare IL is treated as US-IL.
• Framework, like IELDS.
• Domains (optional), comma-separated. Blank imports all.
• Age min and age max in months (optional).

Clear Day tells you how many skills it imported. Skills already in your catalog are skipped, so you can run it again safely.

Active standards frameworks

The Active standards frameworks field records which frameworks your catalog is built on. Changes save immediately.
