Manage the school calendar

Keep a shared month calendar of events, holidays, and closures. Everyone can view it; admins add, edit, and delete events on the web and in the app.

The School Calendar is a shared month view of what's coming up for the school: events, holidays, closures, and more. It lives on both the web and the Clear Day app, and it shows the same month grid on each. Everyone at your school can see it; only admins add or change events.

View the calendar

Both surfaces show the same month grid. Use the arrows on either side of the month name to move between months. Every day with something on it shows a small colored dot per event type, so a glance tells you which days are busy.

Select a day to list its events below the grid. Each event card carries a colored type badge and either a time or All day, plus the title and any description. Days with nothing on them read "No events on this day."

The six event types each have their own color:

  • Holiday
  • Closure
  • Event
  • Early Dismissal
  • Parent-Teacher
  • Field Trip

Create an event

Adding and changing events is limited to admins on both the web and the app.

On the web, open School calendar and use the Add event button in the top right. (Selecting a day first pre-fills that date.) Then:

  1. Enter a Title, and a Description if it helps.
  2. Set a Start date. Add an End date only for a multi-day event: it must be on or after the start date.
  3. Leave All day on, or turn it off to mark the event as not all-day.
  4. Pick a Type: Holiday, Closure, Event, Early Dismissal, Parent-Teacher, or Field Trip.
  5. Press Create.

In the app, the flow is the same: on School Calendar, tap Add Event in the top right, fill in the same fields, and save.

Edit or delete an event

Select the day to open its event cards.

On the web, admins get a pencil Edit icon and a trash Delete icon on each card. Editing opens the same form (the button reads Save); deleting prompts you to confirm Delete first.

In the app, admins tap an event to open it for editing, or long-press it and confirm Delete to remove it.

A deleted event drops off the calendar right away. You can always add it again later.

With the calendar current, everyone gets a heads-up before a closure or a field trip. Still stuck? Email [email protected].
