View state licensing rules

Choose your licensing state, read its staff-to-child ratios, and record your license details so you see renewal reminders.
Every state sets its own staff-to-child ratios. Clear Day keeps a table of them by age group and uses your state's table to flag a classroom that's over its limit. You choose the state once. You're picking which table applies, not editing the numbers.
Directors and admins can change it.
Where it is. On the web, open Licensing from the School hub, at /school/licensing. In the app, open the School tab, then School setup, then Operating state.
Choose your state
This is the state your school is licensed in. It can differ from your mailing address.
- Web: use Select a state under Licensing state. Type to filter. Clear Day saves right away and confirms "Licensing state updated".
- App: type in Search states… and tap your state. A checkmark marks it, and you see "Operating state saved". The screen stays open.
If a save fails, the choice goes back to what it was.
This is the same value as the State on your school profile. Set it in either place.
Read the ratios
On the web, Ratio rules shows one row per age group: Age group, Age range and Max children per teacher, such as 4:1. If a state has no rules on file, the card says so. The app doesn't show the ratio table.
Clear Day compares each room against these limits as you assign children and run headcounts. See Manage classrooms.
Record your license
The page also holds License details: license number, type, status, expiration and max capacity. On the web, select Edit and the Edit license details drawer opens. In the app, fill in the form and select Save license details, and you see "License details saved".
Once an expiration date is saved, Clear Day flags a renewal that's within 60 days, so it doesn't sneak up on you. The app shows "Renews in 30 days" and the web shows Renews in 30d. An expired license is marked as expired.
On the web, the page also shows your State facility record if your school is linked to one, or "No state facility record linked". If it isn't linked, select Find my center to find and link it. That button is hidden for a state with no directory coverage.
