Build milestone portfolios

Record where each child sits on a set of developmental goals, then read their progress over time on one portfolio.
A milestone portfolio tracks how a child is developing against a set of goals over time. You record observations, and Clear Day rolls them up into the latest level on each goal, with the timeline behind it. On the web, open Enrollment, then Milestone portfolios. In the app, open the Grow tab, then Milestone portfolios. Teachers can capture observations too.

Set up a framework
A framework is the set of goals you assess against. Each goal has a domain, a description and sometimes a code. Clear Day includes a built-in framework, marked seed in the Frameworks panel. You can't capture observations against the seed directly.
A director clones it first: choose Clone to your school next to the seed. The clone is yours, and its goals become available when you capture an observation. The button appears only for directors, and only until your school has a clone. If you're a teacher and see a note that no framework is ready, ask a director to clone one.
Capture an observation
Pick a child from Select a child, then choose Capture observation.
- Goal: the milestone you're assessing.
- Progress level: Not yet, Emerging, Progressing or Mastered.
- Note (optional): what you saw, up to 2,000 characters.
- Choose Save.
The observation is dated and added to the child's portfolio. The button stays off until you've picked a child and your school has a framework with goals.
Read the portfolio
The portfolio groups everything by goal. Each goal shows its domain, description and code, and a tag with the latest level. Under it is the timeline: every observation for that goal, newest first, with its level, date and note. The timeline shows how a child moved from one level to the next, not only where they ended up.
Portfolios and skill tags are different
A portfolio records a child's progress level on a developmental goal. A skill tag attaches a skill from your skill catalog to a single observation, to show what a child was practicing in that moment. Use portfolios to report on where a child is developing, and skill tags to label what they were working on.
