Place or move a child between rooms

A child's room and their enrollment are separate. Placing or moving a child never changes whether they're enrolled; ending enrollment runs through Withdraw a child. Directors place and move children.

There are two kinds of move:

• Permanent move changes the child's room.
• Visit logs that the child is spending time in another room and tells that room's teachers. Their own room doesn't change.

On the web

Open the child's profile. Under their name, the Room: line shows their room or Not in a room.

1. Select Move room (or Place in a room if they aren't in one).
2. Pick the Destination classroom.
3. For a child who already has a room, choose Permanent move or Visit.
4. Select Move (or Place).

You'll see "Student moved.", "Student placed." or "Visit logged."

You can also start from the room. On the classroom page, Add student opens the new-child form with that room already chosen; see Enroll a child and edit their profile.

In the app

From the room, open Room actions and choose Add to this room. The sheet lists enrolled children in two groups:

• Not in a room yet, each with Place here.
• In another room, each with Move here…. Choose Visit or Permanent move and hold the button until it confirms.

New student in this room at the bottom opens the new-child form with the room chosen. Use the search box to find a child by name.

From a child's profile, Change classroom does the same from the other direction: pick the destination room, then Visit or Permanent move. There's also Unassign to take a child out of their room. The visit choice is rolling out in this screen: if you only see a plain room picker, it isn't on for your school yet.
