Your home screen

When you sign in, Clear Day drops you on your home dashboard: a single screen that pulls together the day at a glance. Most of what's here is built from your own school's data, and anything that has nothing to show simply doesn't appear, so the screen stays uncluttered.

The greeting

The top of the dashboard always greets you by name (Good morning, Good afternoon, or Good evening, depending on the time of day) with today's full date underneath. A small sun disc next to the greeting shifts color with the time of day. This anchor always shows, even on a quiet day when every other widget is hidden.

Search from anywhere

A search box sits in the top navigation on every screen: the fastest way to jump straight to a student, a message thread, or a person without hunting through tabs. Start typing and matches preview grouped under Students, Messages, and People; press Enter for the full results page. In the app, the same search lives on the School tab behind the magnifying-glass button. See Search across the app for the details.

Today's weather

Just below the greeting, a weather card shows the day's high and low, the conditions (clear, partly cloudy, rain, snow, and so on), and the chance of precipitation when there is one.

The forecast comes from Apple WeatherKit. Clear Day sends only your school's location coordinates to fetch it: no child, family, or staff information ever leaves the app for the weather lookup. If the forecast can't be loaded, the card just stays hidden.

Today's events

If anything is on your school calendar for today (closures, holidays, special days), they appear in a Today card, each with a colored dot and a short label for the event type. The card only shows up on days that actually have events.

Birthdays

When a child in your roster has a birthday today, a warm Happy Birthday card appears with their name (or names, if more than one child shares the day). No birthdays today means no card.

Today's attendance

For directors, admins, and staff, a school-wide attendance ring summarizes how check-ins are going. The ring fills with the percentage of expected children who are checked in and shows the count (for example, 18 of 24) with the label expected children checked in. The ring's color tracks the rate: green when it's strong, amber as it slips, and red when it's low.

Inline attendance

You don't have to open a classroom to change a child's status. Each child in your home roster list has an Update control that lets you check a child in, check them out, mark them absent, or reset to not present: right from the home screen. It uses the same path as the classroom page, so if your school has pickup authorization turned on, a check-out opens the same step to confirm who's picking up (and, optionally, log a quick behavior note). Once a status saves, the home roster updates immediately.

Enrollment pipeline snapshot

Directors and admins also get an Enrollment pipeline tile showing prospect counts across your active stages for the last 30 days. Tap it to open the full pipeline. If there are no active prospects in that window, the tile stays as a quiet shortcut rather than showing numbers.

Your first visit

The very first time a director lands on the home screen after finishing setup, Clear Day shows a one-time You're all set welcome moment: a short checklist confirming your account, school profile, and that your school is live, plus a nudge to add your first classroom. It only appears once; after you dismiss it, it won't come back.
