Write an Ouch report

An Ouch report turns a minute of talking into a finished report and a short note for the family. Teachers and school admins use it in the app, from Tools, in Tonight, as Ouch report.

Sunny drafts. You review, change anything, and decide what leaves your phone. Nothing is saved. When you leave, the words, the report and the note are gone, so print or share before you do.

Write one

1. Open Tools, then Ouch report.
2. Optionally, under Who was it? · Optional, choose the room and the child. You can leave it blank.
3. Tap the microphone and say what happened: who, where, what you saw and what you did. Or type it in the box that says "Say or type what happened". Your words stay at the top of the screen under Your words, so you can see what the draft came from.
4. Choose Draft the report.

Review the draft

The draft appears in a dashed card marked DRAFTED, with five parts: Child, When, What happened, Care given and Follow-up. Below it is Note for the family, written separately.

• Sunny describes what you said. It doesn't diagnose, assign blame or guess a time you didn't give.
• If your words were too thin, Sunny asks for the missing facts and leaves the part blank.
• Choose Edit first to change any part, including the family note. Choose Re-record or Edit to change your words, then Draft again from my words.
• Start over clears everything.

When you're happy, choose Review & submit. The next screen shows the finished report. Any part still blank prints as a line to fill in by hand.

Print or share

• Print / share opens your phone's share sheet with the report as plain text, with lines for a staff signature and a family signature.
• Share note sends just the family note.
• Done finishes. Back to editing goes back.

Sunny's monthly allowance

Each drafted report uses 1 point of your monthly Sunny work allowance. Trying again on the same report doesn't charge you twice. When the allowance runs out, or Sunny can't reach the draft, you get the same form empty, with a line such as "Sunny's done for this month — the form is all yours." You can still fill it in and print it. See Your Sunny work allowance.

If you don't see it

If Ouch report isn't in Tools, it isn't on for your school yet. If you open it and see "Ouch reports are off", your school turned it off.
