Plan lessons and keep lesson ideas
Available on every plan
Rolling out: if you don't see this yet, it isn't on for your school yet.
Plan your week by dates you can read, keep lessons that aren't tied to any week, like "The letter B", and add them to a day whenever you're ready.
The lesson planner has two parts: the week you're planning, and Lesson ideas, a shelf of lessons that aren't tied to any week. School admins and teachers can use both, on every plan.
Open Daily Kit, then Lesson planner. On Run and Grow you can also open a room's plan from the room page with Lesson plan.
Plan a week
The bar at the top shows the week as dates, like "October 12 – 16", with "This week" or "Next week" beside it. Use the arrows to move a week at a time, Back to this week to return, or Pick a week to see a month of weeks at once. Weeks that already have a plan show a dot.
Each day from Monday to Friday has its own column. Add an activity to a day, select one to edit it, or remove it. Activities Sunny drafted show a dashed outline and a "Drafted" mark until you change them.
If your school has rooms, pick a room or Whole school at the top. A teacher sees the rooms they're assigned to. On Free there are no rooms, so the plan is for the whole school.
On Run and Grow, a room's activities also go into each child's daily report on the day, for children who are checked in. A whole-school plan isn't added to daily reports.
Keep lesson ideas
A lesson idea is a lesson you want to keep and reuse: a title, the age group, what children will do, materials, steps and notes for teachers. It lives in Lesson ideas, not in any one week.
To make one, choose New lesson, then either:
- Ask Sunny to draft it: say what it's about, like "The letter B, with a song and something hands-on", pick the age group and how long it should take, and Sunny drafts the materials and steps. Choose Keep and edit to save it, Draft again for another try, or Discard. Drafts use your school's monthly Sunny allowance. If the allowance is used up, you'll get the blank lesson instead. See Sunny's work allowance.
- Start from a blank lesson and write it yourself.
Lesson ideas can be filtered by subject. Duplicate makes a copy you can change, and Remove takes a lesson off the shelf.
Add a lesson to a day
On a lesson, use Add to a day: step to the week you want, pick the day, and choose Add to Wednesday, Oct 14 (or whichever day you picked). From the week view you can also open a lesson's Add to a day menu, or drag it onto a day.
The day gets its own copy. Change it there for that week and the lesson in Lesson ideas stays as it is. If the lesson is already on that day, you'll see a note that adding it again puts a second copy there. On these days lists every day the lesson has been added to.
Drafting a whole week
On Grow, in a room's plan, Draft this week with Sunny fills the week with activities for that room, and Suggest next week drafts next week from what the room has been doing. Both are Grow features and need a room.
