Your 14-day free trial

A school that signs up the regular way ("Create a new school" in the app) starts a 14-day trial of Run and Grow. There's no card, and the clock starts when the school is created.

A school that signs up for a free website ("Build a free website" in the app, or a "Build my free website" link on the web) starts on the Free plan instead, with no trial yet. A Free school that has never had a trial can start one 14-day trial of everything, Run and Grow, once, with no card, from the Unlock sheet or the Billing page. To get Plus, Run or Grow, choose a plan from the picker. See Choose or change your plan.

The trial is about your Clear Day plan, not tuition. Tuition billing works the same whether you're on trial or paid.

What the trial includes

Everything in Run and Grow: attendance, daily reports, classrooms, family messaging, tuition billing, and the enrollment engine. Classrooms cost nothing during the trial, so add every room you run. See How classrooms affect your bill.

What's limited

• Outreach email: 20 a day, against 200 a day on a paid plan.
• Website assistant on your site: the Free allowance, not the larger paid one.

Count the days

On the web, admins see a banner at the top: "5 days left in your free trial. One new family covers the year." On a narrow screen it reads "5 days left in your trial." In the app, the banner reads "5 days left in your free trial," and you can dismiss it for the day.

The button reads Choose a plan. Until you've added a classroom it reads Finish setup and takes you to the New classroom form. On the web, teachers don't see the banner.

During the trial, the web home page and the app's Plan & billing also show a recap of what you've set up: announcements sent, daily reports delivered, classrooms, students.

Subscribe before the trial ends

Choose a plan any time and you keep your remaining days. Your first charge is on the day the trial would have ended, not the day you subscribe. Pick a plan on day 4 and you aren't billed until day 15.

1. Click Choose a plan. On the web it opens the plan picker. In the app it opens Plan & billing.
2. Choose Plus, Run or Grow. See Choose or change your plan.
3. Enter your card on Stripe's checkout page. In the app this opens in your phone's browser.

When the trial ends

If you haven't chosen a plan, Clear Day sends you to a page headed "Your free trial has ended." It shows the recap and the plan cards. Choose a plan to continue, or switch to Free.

At the bottom of that page:

• Manage an existing subscription opens the billing portal, for a school that has subscribed before. In the app it reads "Manage existing subscription."
• Refresh subscription status re-checks Stripe. Use it if you paid and the page is still there.
• Sign out signs you out.

After checkout

On the web you land back in Clear Day automatically. In the app, return to Clear Day and it picks up your plan. If it hasn't, tap Refresh subscription status.
