Your 14-day free trial
How the 14-day free trial works, what it includes, and what happens when it ends.
Every new school starts on a 14-day free trial. You get the whole product, every feature, with no credit card. Take the two weeks to run real days, then choose what to keep.
This trial is for your school's own Clear Day subscription, the software bill you pay Clear Day. It has nothing to do with the tuition families pay you. Those are separate, and the tuition side keeps working the same whether you're on trial or paid.
What's included
During the trial you have full access to every tier and every feature:
- Run: attendance, daily reports, parent messaging, billing, admissions, and parent accounts.
- Grow: everything in Run, plus the enrollment engine and its drafting, behind the Grow tab.
Nothing is held back. When you pick a plan later, that's when the surfaces narrow to match the tier you chose. To compare what each tier carries, see Tiers explained.
No card to start
You don't enter payment details to begin. The trial starts the moment your school is created and runs for 14 days. You only reach Stripe when you decide to subscribe.
Seeing how many days are left
A countdown banner sits at the top of the app for the whole trial. It reads X days left in your free trial and carries a Choose a plan button, including on the last day, when it reads 1 day left in your free trial. On the web, the banner adds — choose a plan to keep your access.
The banner shows on both web and mobile. Tapping Choose a plan opens the plan picker any time you're ready.
Subscribing during the trial
You can subscribe before the 14 days are up without losing your remaining trial. When you pick a plan, your first charge aligns to the end of the trial, not the day you subscribe. Choose a plan on day 4 and you still won't be billed until day 15.
After you pick a tier, checkout opens on Stripe's hosted page. On the web the app sends you to Stripe and back. On mobile, checkout opens in your phone's browser (there's no in-app purchase). You won't be charged until you confirm in that browser window.
Walk through the picker in Choosing a plan.
What happens at day 15
If the trial ends and you haven't chosen a plan, the app gates. Instead of your usual screens you land on a plan picker, headed Your free trial has ended, and the rest of Clear Day stays blocked until you choose. From there you can pick a plan, manage an existing subscription, or sign out.
This gate is enforced on the server, not just in the app. So a gated school can't reach attendance, messaging, billing, the Grow tab, or any other feature until a plan is active. Picking a plan and finishing checkout is the only way back in.
It's a hard stop, but never a surprise. The countdown runs the whole two weeks, and you can subscribe at any point before day 15 to skip the gate entirely.
After checkout
Once you finish checkout in the browser, your subscription syncs on its own. On mobile, return to the app and it refetches your subscription, which clears the gate. If the app hasn't caught up yet, the gate screen has a Refresh subscription status option that pulls the latest status. On the web you're routed back into the app automatically.
From then on you're on your chosen plan, billed monthly. To switch plans or update your card later, see Managing your subscription.
