Schedule a message or send a newsletter
Available on Run and Grow
Line up a message to send later, edit or cancel it before it goes, and post a newsletter to all families.
Staff can write a message now and have Clear Day send it later. Scheduling is for teachers and directors. Parents do not see it.
Schedule a message
- Open the conversation and write your message.
- Choose the clock icon, Schedule send.
- Pick a date and time. It has to be in the future and within 30 days.
- Choose Schedule. You will see "Scheduled for" and the time.
In the app, the clock in the message box opens a Schedule send sheet with the same choices.
See, change or cancel what is queued
On the web, the Scheduled button in the conversation header opens Scheduled messages, with a count of what is pending. In the app, choose Scheduled at the top of the Messages tab.
Each message shows a status:
- Pending: waiting to go out.
- Sending: going out now.
- Sent: delivered.
- Failed: something went wrong, and the reason is shown.
- Canceled: you called it off.
While a message is Pending, choose Edit to change its text or time, or Cancel, then Cancel send, to stop it. Once it has started sending, you cannot take it back.
Send a newsletter
On the school-wide family announcement channel, staff can post a longer newsletter instead of a chat message.
- Choose the newsletter icon, Compose a newsletter. In the app, choose New newsletter at the top of Messages.
- Give it a Title.
- Add one or more sections, each with a heading and a body. You can use Markdown in the body.
- Choose Publish.
It appears in the channel as a card labeled Newsletter, so it stands apart from the conversation around it.
