Set up payments

Connect your school to Stripe so parents can pay deposits and tuition through Clear Day.

Before parents can pay you through Clear Day, you connect your school to Stripe. Parents then pay deposits and tuition straight into your school's own Stripe account. Clear Day never holds your money. Stripe's form asks for your business details, an EIN or SSN, a photo ID, and a bank account, so have those to hand before you start.

How to connect

  1. Open the School tab and find Payments under School setup. On the web, go to /school/payments.
  2. The page shows your current status: Not connected yet, partially set up, or Stripe connected.
  3. Tap Start Stripe onboarding.
  4. Clear Day hands you off to a Stripe-hosted form. Fill in your business details, identity, and bank account there.
  5. When Stripe returns you to Clear Day, tap Refresh status to recheck.

You're ready once the status reads Stripe connected — you can accept deposits, with checkmarks next to both Charges and Payouts.

What Stripe asks for

Stripe collects and verifies everything itself, so have these on hand:

  • Your business details (legal name, address, and EIN or SSN)
  • A photo ID for the verified owner
  • Your bank account for payouts

Stripe handles identity verification, 1099s, chargebacks, and your payout schedule. That relationship is with Stripe directly, not Clear Day.

If you stop partway

You can leave the Stripe form and come back. If onboarding isn't finished, the status shows as partially set up and the button reads Continue onboarding on the web. Pick up where you left off, then Refresh status when you're done.

Fees

Stripe charges its own processing fee on each transaction, which comes out of the funds Stripe settles into your account. Clear Day does not mark up Stripe's rate or add a per-transaction platform fee, and you don't configure a fee schedule in Clear Day.

Status not updating?

Tap Refresh status first. Each refresh checks with Stripe directly, so give it a moment. If Charges or Payouts still shows a dash after you've finished the Stripe form, Stripe is usually still verifying a document. Reopen the onboarding flow with the main button to see what's outstanding.
